JUST A COWGIRL IN THE SAND
I think woodworking is about having fun and making things to facilitate a space of happiness and love. I am working on making pieces to fill a home that would make on feel like they are inside of a seashell if were were to sum it up real quick. The home is a space where one should find comfort and joy, a spot where the sunshine reigns supreme, warming the room with its powerful rays. Lightness is a state of being in this space, where the inhabitant can be soothed by love, solitude, dogs, dinner parties, hot coffee, or a complete listening of “Miles of Aisles”. The furniture is a just a tool to get them there. It is the tangible aid for feel good living. Therefore, I try to make it in a state of happiness, which is hopefully conveyed through the final product and eventually able to seep into the room in which the piece lives. It should always be fun, a real pleasure the get to work in the shop and a breezy ride. It’s all about cruising along the best I can.
Style-wise, it is all about Cowgirl in the Sand, the union of California, Colorado, Kauai, and the Mediterranean. It is seaside and mountain top, desert cactus and pine needles. It is a steady diet of ahi, tequila, pasta, and coffee in the afternoon. Jeeps and Broncos (of all types), skis and sand, wildflowers, and bare feet. Sunshine and canyons xoxo
